The detachable ladder is made by gaining the ends of the steps into the sides of the ladder, securing them with countersunk screws whose heads are covered by glued plugs, dressed flush. A detachable guardrail is desirable during the children's early years. To prevent its wearing the footboards, the underside of its notches can be protected by lengths of old inner tube, glued in place.
